Effective July 1, 2016, Hans Rukes will be taking over executive leadership of ALBIS PLASTIC (Far East) Ltd., Hong Kong, and its subsidiaries in China in his new role as Managing Director Far East.
Rukes joined the company in 1986, and has held a variety of positions within ALBIS since then. In 2012, he moved from Hamburg to Istanbul to serve as Managing Director of ALBIS PLASTIK TR, helping restructure the company and align it to ALBIS corporate standards. “We are very pleased that Hans Rukes agreed to accept this great responsibility,” says Philip O. Krahn, CEO of ALBIS PLASTIC. “Mr. Rukes is an experienced manager whose expertise has contributed to ALBIS’s success, both in Hamburg and abroad.”
When asked about the tasks ahead, Rukes, who is well familiar with both the distribution and the own brand sides of ALBIS business, commented as follows: “We have recently begun seeing a trend in China, and thus within the Chinese plastics processing sector, towards the use of higher-quality and more reliable starting materials for products. With our local compounding facilities and our focus on high-quality specialities, this obviously opens up particularly good growth opportunities for us, considering that we have our own organizations in the key Asian markets of China, Malaysia and Thailand, and are represented in Japan, Australia and New Zealand through sales partners. I am looking forward to facing these future challenges.”
Rukes’ successor as Managing Director in Turkey will be Ismail Bektas. Bektas has a degree in mechanical engineering, and has proven a valuable asset to ALBIS in this sales region since joining the company in 2012 as Sales Director. He has years of experience with the Turkish plastics market, having held a variety of positions with several different international companies. “I am very pleased at the confidence ALBIS is showing in me, and am greatly looking forward to the new areas of responsibility that await me,” says Bektas. “The Turkish market is an exceptionally promising one, and holds numerous opportunities in store for ALBIS. Of course, it also involves certain risks, which gives the market an element of dynamism and creates new challenges. However, our newly restructured organization is in an excellent position to react to these situations, and to continue expanding its role within the Turkish market.”
